This course is designed to teach the beginning Spanish student the four major skills of World Language study: speaking, listening and understanding, reading, and writing in the Spanish language. Stress is placed on the acquisition of Spanish vocabulary, as well as proper syntax to enable the learner to communicate at the beginning level. The student is also exposed to cultural differences as well as an appreciation for the lifestyle of the people of the Spanish-speaking world.
To foster the four primary goals of the World Language Program, classroom activities include communicative exercises, co-operative learning, grammatical exercises, vocabulary usage, reading, writing, and listening exercises; cultural readings and videos, activities designed to connect with other disciplines, and programs to encourage world community participation.
